As a result of an exciting new partnership between Park Lane College Leeds and the Host Media Centre, new Music courses are coming to Leeds!!

Park Lane College Leeds can offer you a course guaranteed to point you in the right direction! Leeds is now a hotbed for new talent, which is why top music industry professionals have agreed to guest lecture on these dynamic courses!
Exclusive to Park Lane, the courses can offer you:
Regular visits from established industry professionals
The opportunity to work in state-of-the-art recording studios with the

Production' and 'Studio Audio Techniques'
Real music industry settings - study both in College and in high-tech studios.
The main two year foundation degree course "Contemporary Music Production", is accessible after A Level or equivalent. A range of short courses that will cover DJ-ing, Band Management, Music Technology and Radio Production etc, can also be studied independently or by combining several, you can gain
an access route to the foundation degree.
If completed successfully, the foundation degree can lead to a further year's study at Leeds Met and a full honours degree. To avoid disappointment apply now as the courses have a high level of interest and places are limited!

This exciting new course contains modules covering a wide range of skills, knowledge and understanding linked to contemporary industry-standard music production. Students will engage with music industry professionals in settings that provide a ‘real world’ connection to industry practice, and explore professional production in the context of contemporary culture and society.

Band and production management are combined with computerised music production and studio audio techniques, alongside professional practice and work based learning. Students will experience a challenging and broad based learning programme emphasising practical and applied skills relevant to careers in today’s music industry.

Skills, knowledge and understanding linked to contemporary industry-standard music production will be pursued in settings that provide a ‘real world’ connection to industry practice.

Course location
As a result of a key college partnership, the practical elements of the course will be undertaken at the Host Media Centre (Savile Mount, LS7) which contains state-of-the-art recording equipment and music studios. Further classroom-based elements of the course will take place at the Park Lane Site (City Centre Site).

Course length: Two years

After the course
A foundation degree is a new Higher Education vocational qualification combining: Industry standard training with high-level academic study. Having successfully completed the foundation degree award, students would be able to top-up to a full associated honours degree at Leeds Met Uni in one extra year.

This course is validated by Leeds Metropolitan University.

Short Courses
Starting from September 24th 2006, a number of exciting NCFE short courses will also begin in music technology:

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Music Technology
Cost £280.00 (guided learning hours: 150).

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Music Technology (Mix DJ Skills)
Cost £280.00 (guided learning hours 150).

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Performance Skills
Cost £240.00 (guided learning hours 120).

All course to be delivered at the Host Media Centre Music Studios, 21 Savile Mount, Leeds LS7 3HZ. A number of other similar short-course options e.g. dj-ing will also be available soon; contact the Host Media Centre directly for details.
